the race of togetherness...
It started with the love of movement… of running…
I was fast and free-Whitney was quick and determined- we could propel ourselves up, down, around and through
When Whitney approached me with the idea of a team, ‘Come Run With Me,’ I was thrilled- I saw the empowering feeling of speed and flight returning- it was a possibility…
Whitney & I have expanded our team- it includes our trainers, physical therapists, dogs, racing chair designers & builders, friends, families, supporters, runners…
Our first race together- exciting! We have reached another stop on the eternal pursuit of following a passion. We evolve independently and together…

Tomorrow is our first race as a TEAM!
How will we feel as we push off for the first time? Proud? Nervous? United?
How will we feel when we pass the people that love and support us as they cheer from the sidelines? Strong? Encouraged?
How will we feel when we cross the finish line?
Like two sisters who love one another. One who lost the strength to run and one who found the legs to power on.

45 minutes and counting!
Thank you, Central Park, for giving me another great run full of endless paths, great people watching, and brisk air! I hit 45 minutes today. As always the first 30 left me wondering why I continue to do this to myself - the last 15 were pure bliss. Long distances - here I come again!

I flew from North Carolina to NYC yesterday to spend the week here working, caring for my niece, and getting ready for our race on Saturday in New Jersey! I kicked off this gorgeous Monday with an early jog in the South End of Central Park. Here are some photos of the things I passed on my route courtesy of Central Park Conservancy.

Fall is my favorite time of year - crisp air, the smell of wood burning stoves, apple cider. Fall is also wonderful running weather! This Saturday I hit 3 miles at a 9 minute plus pace. I was really impressed that I could almost match my old pace so easily after all of this time. The foliage along the way was incredible and I look forward to another run this week!

Slow and steady was the motto during my first run after many months. Levi, my running partner when Lyndsley is not available, was very excited to be back out and pounding the pavement!

Off and Running!
My husband, Raven, is in charge of planning all of our vacations and last December he choose Monterey, CA. It is a perfect spot if you enjoy outdoor activities.
It was an amazing trip! The scenery was so gorgeous that I would go out for a 5 mile run and end up running 8 or 9. I wanted to take advantage of the time I had during the vacation to explore every route I possibly could and so I ran almost every day.
The trip home on the plane was not as much fun as the vacation – my enthusiasm for running along the beach left me with two very unhappy knees. After a ten month running hiatus and help from my amazing physical therapist, Rob, at Balanced Physical Therapy I am ready to hit the road again! I will be taking things slowly to make sure I don’t push too hard too fast but regardless, I can’t wait!
